Invitation to join the cast of the 2012 Greenford Gang Show
What is a Gang Show?
The Greenford Gang Show is a family variety show with a mix of old and new
music, comedy and dance items all performed by around a 100 members of the local
Scout & Guide movements from age 8 to sixty something! The show also has a live
band, makes all its own costumes and builds all its own scenery and props. Every
year the show raises money for a local charity.
Things you need to know about our show:-
- We are an ALL INCLUSIVE show and are very proud to be so. This means our entry criteria are NOT based on singing or dancing ability. It is based on attitude and enthusiasm.
- We will NEVER ask anyone who doesn’t want to, to sing or dance on their own. There will not be an X-Factor type audition process.
- We WANT people in our show who will value their place in the cast and who will give Gang Show 100% commitment and effort.
Who can be in it?
ANYONE who is a current member of the Scout or Guide movements over the age of
8. We split the cast into sections – Juniors aged 8 to 10 approx (ie Cubs &
Brownies) and the Senior Cast aged 10 & above. The Juniors often join the Senior
cast on stage and have their own songs within larger items.
What about rehearsals?
We rehearse at District Head Quarters, 111/113 Hill Rise, Greenford every
Tuesday evening starting on 20th September from 7.30pm until 9.30pm
with Juniors starting 9th October between 10am and noon, PLUS approx
2 Sunday full days. We expect all cast to commit to being at ALL rehearsals
except when ill or in exceptional circumstances.
What is the application procedure?
Tell us you want to apply – email us your name, date of birth, address and phone
number and Scout or Guide group. If you are aged 10, please specify whether you
would like to be in Junior cast or main cast. You can also leave a message on
our answerphone. Our contact details are at the bottom of this letter.
Then what?
We start rehearsals on Tuesday 20th September, this is also our
Registration Evening where we do all the paperwork, take cast pictures for the
programme and give you an overview of what’s in the show. This will take place
also on Tues 27th September for the Seniors then the Juniors on the 9th
October.

Please remember that as with all Scout & Guide leaders, we at Gang Show are also volunteers with jobs and families. We will do our utmost to answer queries in a timely fashion.
